Varsity Football is getting more and more interesting and you don’t want to miss out on the action. With just two rounds played, goals are being scored for fun and it’s getting tougher to predict winners with each game. Varsity Football is keeping fans warm during this winter and it’s worth going to watch the games.
UJ vs TUT
This is without a doubt the biggest game of Round Three. It’s the repeat of last year’s final. Nothing could separate the two teams last year as they played to an ugly 1-1 draw in 2016. There is always drama and controversy surrounding this fixture. Be sure not to miss out on the hard tackles, thrilling goals and live entertainment. UJ are coming off the back of a heroic 1-0 win over Tuks while TUT achieved the biggest win of the tournament so far with a 7-0 thumping of UFH. At home UJ will be a different kettle of fish without the intimidation of the home TUT fans. It will be a great game to watch – expect fireworks.
Prediction: UJ 2 TUT 1
NWU vs Tuks
NWU are one of the teams that boast a 100% record after two rounds of matches have been played. They are a free-scoring side but have they really been tested at this year’s tournament? No. This match will give them an indication of how far they are in the competition. Tuks are known for being slow starters and they are certainly living up to that billing. The Tshwane outfit will need to dig deep and win the match. Will NWU let them off the hook on their home ground? That’s highly unlikely. It will be an interesting match to watch. Both teams need to win for various reasons – NWU to maintain their great start and Tuks to get themselves back into contention in the round robin stages.
Prediction: NWU 2 Tuks 2
Wits vs CUT
These two teams are on opposing ends of the table. One is pushing for a semi-final sport and the other is down at the bottom. Wits are slowly making a name for themselves as a bit of a charity case, while CUT are enjoying a perfect start. Wits are bad, too bad, this season. They have leaked 10 goals in two matches, which is the worst defensive record so far, tied with UFH. CUT should be able to walk this one and get themselves a step closer to securing a semi-final spot.
Prediction: Wits 1 CUT 2
UWC vs UFH
The nightmare is set to continue for free-falling UFH. Varsity Football is slipping away from them as they are making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. UWC will show them no mercy at their fortress in the Mother City. They will do what they did to Wits in front of an intimidating atmosphere. UFH lost 7-0 in their previous game to TUT and they are about to be given another big hiding.
Prediction: UWC 4 UFH 0
