We are only one month away from the fifth season of Varsity Football, which kicks off on 27 July. While the cold winter days and nights may want you to cosy up under the covers, the heat will be turned up at stadiums across the country when another season of blazing hot Varsity Football action takes place.
Here are a few of the things you have to know ahead of the 2017 season:
Tickets
Tickets to all matches will be made available on the Varsity Sports app, while you can also grab them at the gate for just 10 bucks each. To download the app and get your tickets, click here for Apple users and here for Android.
#Iyachesa
It’s the word that captures the spirit of this beautiful tournament. Iyachesa loosely translates to “it’s hot” in any Nguni language. Varsity Football is going to be lit, fam!
Players get a shot at the big leagues
Twelve players have gone from Varsity Football to play for top flight teams, including Thabo Mnyamane who represented NWU-Mafikeng before he went on to represent UP-Tuks. Mnyamane now plays for SuperSport United and Bafana Bafana. Who says dreams can’t come true when you play Varsity Football?
Ziyawa
More than 100 000 supporters watch Varsity Football throughout the season where singing, dancing and cheering are all encouraged. Don’t let the FOMO to get the best of you.
Cash prizes
Our dopest fans are always rewarded. Show your colours at the live matches and you stand a chance of walking away with instant cash prizes and free pizza (young shout-out to FNB, Samsung and Debonairs Pizza).
There is really no reason to stay home alone this season. Come out and support your favourite team. Who knows, you might just meet bae.
