Following an impressive victory over University of Witwatersrand (Wits), the Central University of Technology will be looking to carry their momentum into Monday’s match at home to University of Pretoria (UP-Tuks).
After two draws away from home, CUT successfully negotiated what seemed to be a tricky encounter with Wits. Goals from marksman Orapeleng Manopole and substitute Abrahm Singozo ensured that CUT registered a victory in their first home match.
However, the multitude of missed chances should concern them and they may be punished against formidable opponents such as UP-Tuks. The two-time Varsity Football champions are no strangers to burying chances, having put three unanswered goals past the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in Round Three of the competition.
Having started the competition with two clean sheets, CUT’s defence has been breached three times in the last two matches. UP-Tuks may look to capitalise on that, having come off a disappointing stalemate at home to NWU-Mafikeng. CUT will again count on their raucous crowd to take them over the line.
A victory will further strengthen their chances of making the semifinals of the competition, which would be a massive achievement in itself for the newcomers.
CUT face Tuks at CUT Stadium on 15 August. Kick-off is at 16:30 and the match will be live on SuperSport 10.
