It is all systems go for Monday’s Varsity Netball final in which new champions will be crowned.
Although Maties have home ground advantage, they shouldn’t assume that the match will be a walkover for them against NWU-Pukke. The Potchefstroom side seem to have found their rhythm and at the right time after their poor start to the season after they lost a handful of the players they had last season.
Pukke are looking to do better than their first Varsity Netball Final in 2013 when they lost to Kovsies and avenge their third round defeat in the rematch against the Stellenbosch side.
Being able to secure a home final means Maties had a great run in the competition, they would not want to disappoint their supporters. Making their first final will boost their confidence and have them display the spectacular netball that shook the number of top teams.
The battle will be in centre court with Izanna Muller, Lentsa Motau and Mandolene Hermanus of Pukke while the Stellies will be relying on the speedy Sune Classens, Jo Prins and Juline Russouw will be important in which side will walk away victorious.
Maties continued climb on log from the first season has been impression and having players that have been with the team from the first season has contributed to the team’s performance this year.
