SELLO DIPHOKO (KOVSIES)
Diphoko is taking Varsity Football by storm in his debut season.
The 21-year-old was in a class of his own against tournament favourites Tuks, scoring a hat-trick to win his second FNB Player of the Match award in a row.
Diphoko, who also produced a match-winning performance against UKZN, kept the Tuks defence on their toes throughout the 90 minutes.
He is slippery, has an eye for goal and tracks back to help the defense when his team is under attack.
SANELE HLOPHE (NWU)
Hlophe almost single-handily helped NWU register their first win in the tournament with a 6-0 thumping of UKZN.
He scored four goals and made two assists to win the FNB Player of the Match accolade.
Hlophe showed composure when dispatching two penalties and the talented forward also found the back of the net twice in open play.
Hlophe and Diphoko are joint top goal-scorers in the tournament with four each.
NGOANAMELLO RAMMALA (UJ)
Rammala is the heartbeat of UJ football and everything passes through him.
He reads the game well and knows where his teammates are, picking them up with his accurate passes and pinpoint crosses.
Rammala may not have scored a goal after two games, but he has created them, and can turn the game on its head in an instant.
He was a worthy winner of the FNB Player of the Match award after their 1-1 draw with Wits.
THULANI SIBISI (VUT)
Sibisi bagged a second-half hat-trick in his team’s 4-2 upset victory over TUT.
He showed no respect to the five-time finalists, ripping their defence apart.
He completed the rout when scoring his third goal deep into stoppage time and walked away with the FNB Player of the Match award.
