
Maties secured their semi-final spot when they beat CUT by 16 runs at the NWU Oval in Potchefstroom on Friday morning.
Maties won the toss and elected to bat first. Despite losing the early wickets of Fritz de Beer and Branden Brodell in the first five overs, they were able to claw their way to 58/3 after 10 overs. Dylan Rushmere and Luke Holland were vital for Maties, with Holland smacking three fours and three sixes to score an unbeaten 46 off 31 to lead the Maties pack. Delano Williams took two of the four wickets for the Bloemfontein side as Maties ended their innings on 130/4.
CUT came out with fire in their bats, scoring two fours in the first over before Luke Holland sent Eduan Coetzee and Calvin Flanegan back to the change room with CUT on 18/2. CUT continued their fight for runs and were on par with Maties after 10 overs.
But the CUT wheels came off after 16 overs, as the wickets continued to fall, handing Maties a 16-run win. Nicholas Scholtz was exceptional for Maties, taking four wickets.
