TUT will use the Varsity Beach Volleyball tournament in Camps Bay to gain some valuable experience.
The Pretoria university does not have many seasoned Beach Volleyball players, but coach Muzi Dlamini insists that will change as he implements a long-term plan to improve the sport at TUT.
Dlamini’s goal for the tournament in Camps Bay is for his team to improve on their seventh place from last year and lay some solid foundations for the future.
“We do not have much experience, with just one of the girls playing regularly in a local social league, but we plan to work on that next year and the Varsity tournament in Camps Bay is the starting point,” he told varsitysportssa.com.
Dlamini has put his players through a focused training regime over the last few weeks, but he knows that the best place for them to learn will be in the heat of battle.
“All of our players are quite young and they show good potential, it is just about gaining that experience so that we can make a strong challenge next year,” he said.
Dlamini expects Camps Bay to be a great venue, with the unpredictable Cape weather his main concern, and has set his sights on improving on last year’s performance.
“Camps Bay is a great venue, we just need to get some experience under our belts and I am confident that TUT can become a Beach Volleyball powerhouse next year,” he said.
