Kovsies secured a 56-33 bonus-point win over Maties in their high-tempo Varsity Netball encounter in Bloemfontein.
The home side made an energatic start to the game, moving the ball forward at pace and catch the Maties defence on the back foot.
However the visitors regrouped and fought back well to tie things up at 4-4 after the opening five minutes, but it was Kovsies who finished the first quarter as the stronger side to lead 16-6 at the first break.
The hosts made a storming start to the second period, leaving Maties stunned as Kovsies pulled away in spectacular style.
The crowd were right behind Kovsies as they made the most of the Samsung Powerplay, and the visitors were left staring down a massive 32-8 deficit in no time.
Maties started to find their feet as the Kovsies began to tire, and the Stellenbosch made use of a Samsung Powerplay of their own to narrow the gap to 36-15 by half-time.
Maties continued to struggle to impose themselves, with their error-rate holding them back significantly as they trailed 46-21 at the final break.
It was not long before Kovsies had the bonus point wrapped up as they brought up the half century shortly after play resumed in the final period.
Maties fought hard in the final period as Kovsies rang the changes, but it was not enough to secure a bonus point and they ultimately left the Callie Human Hall empty-handed.
