Sparks are set to fly when TUT take on UP-Tuks in their Varsity Netball opener at Tuks’ Rembrandt Hall on Saturday.
The game between the two Tshwane rivals is set to kick off at 15.30.
TUT are set to enter the game as underdogs based on Tuks’ great history and reputation in local Netball circles. However TUT are ready to rise up to the occasion and cause one of the major upsets of the tournament.
TUT Netball team manager, Magda Janse van Vuuren conceded that her team has got a high mountain to climb against Tuks on Saturday but still warned their opponents to underestimate them at their own peril.
“Yes its true that our team is not on the same level as the so called Big Five Universities but my team has the passion to hold their own against Tuks. It will be a big mistake for people to underestimate us because we are going all out to fight for all the points at stake,” she said.
Van Vuuren highlighted the team spirit in their camp and said the girls are looking forward for a great tournament.
“As I stated before, our Netball girls are very passionate for the game so the spirits are very high for the upcoming games of the Varsity Netball. Our girls have a great positive attitude amongst each other which makes our work as managers pleasant,” she added.
Besides excitement and high spirit in TUT camp, Van Vuuren also declared a clean bill of health in her team.
