UWC are looking for maximum points when they face their neighbours UCT in their final Varsity Football fixture of the season at the UWC Sports Stadium.
UWC striker – and their top scorer in Varsity Football – Curtley Beukes, says the UWC side is ready to show their neighbours who the better team really is.
“UWC and UCT are tied in first and second place on the USSA Western Cape Football log, and this will be a good match to see who the better team is,” said Beukes.
Beukes says beating UCT won’t be an easy task but the UWC players will try their utmost and use their superior passing to their advantage.
“Even though we have lost four drawn one and won one game during the competition, we learnt valuable lessons – such as how to strengthen our formations and perfect our tactics,” he said.
He described one of the team’s best games against (NWU.
“NWU are a very strong side, they managed to beat other sides with big goal differences but we were a good match for them despite losing 2-1 in the end,” he said.
UWC will play the University of Stellenbosch in the USSA Western Cape Football competition this week before their clash with UCT.
“This game will serve as good preparation for the big game against UCT. We will then use that same winning spirit to do well against UCT on Monday,” said Beukes.
