NWU are determined to bounce back from their first Varsity Football defeat when they welcome the unbeaten NMMU to Mafikeng next week.
Head coach Augustine Makalakalane’s side were knocked off the top of the Varsity Football standings by TUT, who beat them 1-0 in Tshwane on Monday, but things are not getting much easier for them as they prepare to face an impressive NMMU outfit that has only conceded a single goal in their three matches so far.
“Our 1-0 loss to TUT was a wake-up call for my players. We are playing a second placed NMMU in our next game and we are ready to compete,” said Makalakalane.
The NWU coach said that he hopes the home crowd in Mafikeng will make a big difference, just as they did in the 6-1 demolition of UFS.
“We also depend on our supporters to cheer the players to glory on the day as we will be playing on our own back yard,” added Makalakalane.
NMMU is in second place on the Varsity Football standings after two wins and one draw so this game, which will be televised live on Super Sport 7, promises to be humdinger.
