Football fans in Pretoria are in for a special treat when TUT take on NWU Mafikeng in the Varsity Football Cup match billed for TUT Stadium.
Both TUT and NWU have won the hearts of football fans in the country with their splendid performances since the Varsity Football tournament started few weeks ago.
Both teams remain unbeaten in the tournament but NWU have already emerged as hot favorites to snatch the trophy this year owing to their brand of football they play and the number of goals have scored which was evident in their 6-1 demolition of the University of Free State in Mafikeng last week.
TUT are playing their first game at home this evening after recorded victory against University of Pretoria and University of Western Cape on the road and defender,Themba Nkosi says they can’t afford to disappoint their fans in their backyard against the on-form NWU Mafikeng.
“Last week we went to UWC and we felt the pressure and the atmosphere of playing away from home.It was like Pirates when played TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi this year.
“This is the first time we play at home and we will count on our supporters to keep the three points at home on Monday,” said Nkosi.
NWU have scored 10 goals since the start of the tournament and the mere mention of striker Thabo Mnyamane sends chill down the spine of the TUT defence.
Mnyamane has been a marvel to watch and crowned his superb performance with a hatrick when his team beat UFS 6-1 in North West last week.
Nkosi is aware of the danger pose by the NWU striker but says they have a game plan for the visitors
“We know that he is a dangerous man but we have a plan for him.We just have to cut off the supply (to him)”.
“We have game a plan not only for him but the whole team and we will try to push pressure on the them from the first whistle,” added Nkosi.
