“The greatest pleasure in life is doing what others say you cannot do.” (Zanele Vimbela – Varsity Netball 2013-2014, Madibaz | National Team debut 2014)
While the Madibaz are riding high after their success at the 2022 USSA tournament, making it to the final against eventual winners Maties, the Eastern Cape-based team will head into the 2022 Varsity Netball competition minus a handful of first-choice players due to injury.
The Madibaz kick-off their Varsity Netball campaign on 17 September against the 2019 champions, Tuks, in Pretoria.

Madibaz coach Lana Krige, says she is looking forward to the young players getting their chance to shine in a competition like Varsity Netball, where the intensity and level of play are exceptionally high.
“We haven’t had the best of preparations and have been unlucky with a couple of players out due to injury. So we are coming into Varsity Netball this year with a new team and I am excited to see what they will deliver. We will use the build-up to fine-tune a couple of things and settle on combinations.”
And the aim for the 2022 Varsity Netball tournament for the Madibaz?
“Of course, we always hope for the best. If we can make it to the semi-finals, then anything can happen.”
