On Thursday the Varsity Football playoff places will be decided, and the previously unthinkable could be 90 minutes away from happening for TUT…
We didn’t see this one coming. As it is, the Red Machine is at risk of not making it to the playoffs after their back-to-back defeats against UFS and NWU. Further, the defending champions have failed to win their last three matches.
However, not all hope is lost as TUT is currently sitting in the fourth-position on the log with a clash against already out-of-contention CUT to come.
Though worried about their team’s slump in form, dropping from first to fourth in the last month, their supporters remain confident that the Red Machine will be well-oiled come Thursday, 18:30.
TUT fan Tebogo Nxumalo said he has always supported TUT and he is disappointed about their recent performances. However, he thinks they still have a chance to make it into the finals of the Varsity Football 2019.
“I ensure that I don’t miss any TUT matches that are being televised on SS4 as I am a huge fan. Yes, we’ve got no one to blame but ourselves but I still believe that we will make it to the finals,” Nxumalo tells varsitysportssa.com.

Thabiso Lebitso’s injury is the main reason for TUT’s poor performances, according to Nxumalo.
“I think if we had Lebitso, we would have won our match against UWC. We really need him as he is our standout performer in the team,” the 21-year-old says.
TUT’’s tricky winger Thabiso Lebitso, has been selected as the Captain of the Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search.
With no hesitancy, the reigning champions are far from their best and they may be playing their last match in this year’s competition if they fail to win against seventh-placed CUT.
