After bagging their second point of the season against TUT, UKZN head coach Nhlanhla Mshibe says his team must win against a tough UWC opponent this coming Thursday.
Last Thursday was almost the perfect night for the men from KZN after they caused TUT to drop points for the first time this season, holding the Varsity Football defending champions to a 1-1 draw.
It was, in fact, the second season running that UKZN denied Bushy Moloi’s charges a full haul of points but it’s now for the Impi to carry that momentum forward, as they travel to UWC in Thursday’s Round 5 action.
Last year their first ever meeting produced a spectacular six-goal thriller, and nobody would bet against a similar high-scoring affair taking place at ‘The Operation Room’ in Bellville.
UKZN head coach, Nhlanhla Mshibe, is confident his team will be up for the game – with fresh legs in the offing.

“If we look at the guys who played against TUT, there are players who didn’t play. Our squad is big and, definitely, we will give other players a chance,” the former Lamontville Golden Arrows midfielder revealed to varsitysportssa.com.
Mshibe, who previously coached at Durban University of Technology, is determined to set his team out to claim all three points as they only have the two so far – from draws at UFS and last week’s against TUT.
“We haven’t won, so basically to us it’s a must win game. So as we go there we have to win no matter what,” Mshibe added.
For all the talk, Mshibe will be aware that his charges will have to do the job on the field. They’re currently bottom of the log and UWC usually make life difficult for visitors to their stadium. However, as UKZN showed last week in Pietermaritzburg, they are well capable of pulling off surprise results. By Mpendulo Letsoalo
