After two disallowed goals in the first half, TUT were able to convert a late penalty to win 1-0 at the Fanie du Toit Sports Grounds on Friday 21 September.
TUT got the first opportunity of the game when they were awarded a free-kick just outside the box, but the goal was disallowed because players were offside. It didn’t get any better for TUT, when they shot for goal again but another call for offside meant that the goal was disallowed too.
Sisipo Nxasana had a great chance at goal right for Kovsies as the second half started, but her shot skimmed the top of the crossbar, leaving the score tied at 0-0. Kovsies conceded another free-kick, but Uma Jakalese was able to save Gabonnelwe Kekana’s strike to maintain a stalemate.
Kovsies were defending for their lives in the last twenty minutes, but two more calls for offside and some brilliant defending held TUT off until the dying moments of additional time. A foul by Azile Makiva gave TUT a penalty and Kgomotso Mashilwane made no mistake, giving TUT the 1-0 win.
