It would be hard to argue against the statement that the 2017/2018 has been the year of Jenny. Above all of her previous achievements, Van Dyk became the first South African coach to win the Brutal Fruit Netball Primiere League undefeated, winning it for the second consecutive year.
Van Dyk has been instrumental in the development of many of South Africa’s netball talent which includes the likes of Lenize Potgieter, Shadine van Der Merwe and current captain, Tshina Mdau.
“I joined the University of Pretoria as a Sports Psychology student & netball player in 2001. In 2008 I became the Tuks Netball Manager and started coaching under the mentorship of Elize Kotze, the Previous Protea Coach.
“In 2011 I became the Head of the programme and Head Coach of Tuks Netball Club. My dedication and attention to individual skills development and team dynamics sets me apart. The players will always be the most important to me.”
She is the coach of the Presidents XII. On top of that, she will be coaching the SA team that will be competing at the world university netball championships in Uganda from the 15th of September.
“The past year we spent countless hours on court with individual, combination and team sessions developing the South Africa, Gauteng netball and Tuks players to prepare them on every possible level. This hard work, dedication and personal attention make all the difference to the exceptional results we delivered.”
Coach Jenny has done a tremendous amount for Tuks Netball since joining in a coaching capacity in 2008. On top of multiple USSA titles, the team has always been one of the top performers in Varsity Netball since its inception and finally secured the title last year. The reigning champions are determined to retain the title, and will be looking to Van Dyk to lead them to it. Week Three of the competition will see the University of Pretoria try to get themselves into a qualifying top four position on the log at the biggest netball party takes place in Maties as all teams travel to Stellenbosch.
