YOH! It’s getting harder to predict the scores with each round of Varsity Football. UKZN were finally woken from their slumber as they registered their first point of the season. As winter is bidding us farewell, preparing to usher in spring, the action on the field of play is getting even better. Crowds continue to fill stadiums across the country and the action on the field of play never disappoints. Here are the score predictions for Round Six.
Wits 2-0 Limpopo
Wits know that a win at home against Limpopo will virtually secure them passage to the semi-final. On paper the game against Limpopo should be counted as a win even before kicking a ball. But it’s dangerous to count your chickens before they hatch. You wouldn’t blame them if they did though, mainly because Limpopo are yet to get off the mark in this year’s tournament. They are losing games left, right and centre. After their massive 2-1 win over NWU in their previous game at the same venue, one expects Wits to seal the deal against Limpopo.
UP-Tuks 2-1 NWU
This match has a knockout feel to it. The winner in this pick of the round six matches will take a giant leap towards the semi-final. Only a point separates the two teams. By virtue of playing the game Tuks should go into this contest as the favourites. NWU have lost back-to-back matches and a third loss in a row will spell disaster for them. The boys from North West started the tournament like a house on fire, but the wheels are appear to come off, while Tuks are slowly gathering momentum.
UWC 1-1 UJ
UWC have to win their remaining two matches and hope that results elsewhere will go in their favour. They blew a great chance to keep their slim hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages alive with that thrilling 3-3 draw against UKZN. UJ can do with a draw in this match against UWC as they have already secured their qualification to the semis.
UKZN 1-2 TUT
UKZN have nothing to lose but everything to gain in this match. TUT on the other hand have to win the game to guarantee their spot in the last four – it’s as simple as that. UKZN are still looking for their first win of the season and their fans expect them to put up a fight against the Red Machine. TUT should have enough fire power to leave KZN with a bag full of points.
