Madibaz ended their Varsity Hockey campaign on a high after defeating Kovsies in their final match. Hear from their captain on how the team felt about the tournament, why Varsity Hockey is so important for the sport and what the fans’ support means to them.
It was a difficult campaign for the Madibaz, as they lost exactly half of their matches by just a two-goal margin, which could is only one field goal in Varsity Hockey terms. The university’s results were perhaps not a true reflection of their performances, but it was still an important experience for their players.
“Varsity Hockey’s tempo is a lot higher and nothing comes easy,” says Madibaz captain Jason McGillvray. “The highlight for me has been seeing the team come together.”
