It’s party time! Varsity Football is turning five years old. Cheers to Varsity Football’s five-year anniversary! It’s time to pop the champagne and celebrate a game-changing initiative. When this initiative started five years ago, the naysayers told everybody who cared to listen that this was a futile exercise. But Varsity Football is growing in leaps and bounds and even the powers that be in South African football (the SA Football Association) have rubber stamped this excellent initiative.
SAFA have given Varsity Football the thumbs up for its contribution to SA football. It is destined for success and more aspiring footballers will be produced through this platform. Let me also take this opportunity to congratulate the brains behind Varsity Football we hope to see many more years of this popular varsity competition.
As Varsity Football turns five we wish the organisers, coaches, footballer, sponsors and fans the best of luck ahead of the 2017 season. With the congratulatory words out of the way, it’s time to focus on the new season. This year’s action promises to keep the fans on the edge of their feet.
Fasten your seatbelt – the Varsity Football’s fifth edition train is about to leave the station. It’s going to be a humdinger and you don’t want to miss out. This year’s tournament is going to be bigger and better than the last one. Those who thought that Varsity Football is just about kicks and giggles, better think again. This is not a platform used to lose weight or chase away boredom. Stakes are high and players will be auditioning their careers to the scouts, agents and coaches in front of a bigger audience.
Varsity Football is known for launching footballers’ careers and this year will not be different. The players will play in front of a bigger audience and the exposure from television will help them to take their game to the next level.
Check out what went down at this year’s launch:
You snooze you lose – this year’s competition will separate the men from the boys. The 2017 edition is not for the faint hearted. The competition’s popularity is growing with each game and this year SAFA’s big brass will keep a close eye to watch the latest development unfold. There will be drama, tears and wild celebrations as the quest for the fifth edition begins.
In conclusion I would like to wish all the participating teams the best of luck in their quest to become the best football university in the country. As part of the furniture of Varsity Football myself, I can’t wait to see the action on the pitch. Let the games begin.
