TUT got their Varsity Football campaign off to a great start with an impressive 4-1 victory over local rivals Tuks.
Three first-half goals and another after half-time saw TUT claim a vital victory away from home against the USSA champions who fought back in the second half but could not find the target to slump to a demoralising defeat.
The visitors took an early lead as striker Botshelo Mfulwane rose highest to nod home a free kick and give his side a 1-0 advantage.
After that early jolt Tuks looked to respond immediately and got a shot on goal following a corner, but TUT goalkeeper King Ndlovu was equal to it.
The all-action start to the match continued as both teams created good chances for the men up front and it was not long before TUT made it 2-0.
Katlego Mokoena hit the wall with his free kick, but duly smashed the rebound into the back of the net to leave the home fans stunned as TUT took a 2-0 lead with less than ten minutes on the clock.
Tuks looked to settled things down and knocked the ball around as they regrouped and found their rhythm.
However, the visitors made it 3-0 just before the half-time break as Sizwe Khumalo made the most of a defensive blunder from Nicholas Ionnis and kept his composure well to find the top left corner.
That left Tuks with it all to do in the second half as they looked to fight back from a 3-0 deficit in the final 45 minutes.
The home side started the second half with plenty of attacking intent as they ran hard at the TUT defence, but they battled to find the target with a few attempts going wide.
Instead it was TUT who scored next, with Mfulwane finishing a counter-attacking move well to sweep the ball past the goalkeeper and give his side a formidable 4-0 lead.
Tuks got a late consolation when their skipper Kabelo Ramongane smashed the ball past the goalkeeper, but it was too little too late as TUT wrapped up victory.
