Kovsies managed to crush their VUT counterparts, winning 78-25 against the Vaal University of Technology on Sunday afternoon at the UJ Imbizo Hall, Soweto.
The Free State side held onto their possession as they dominated throughout the game, pulling points as they held onto a 27-point lead by the half time break. With their quick feet, strong defensive patterns and an even quicker counterattack, Kovsies pulled out their tactical preciseness as VUT fell behind and saw their weaknesses exposed up until the third quarter.
After the first quarter, Kovsies had a narrow 15-4 lead, but by halftime the Free State side led 35-8. The onslaught continued and after the third quarter it was 54-18 in favour of Kovsies.
As the fourth quarter began, VUT began to show their fighting spirit as they fought back, picking up their pace and intercepting cross-passes to score a few points. Unfortunately, Kovsies held onto to their ownership as they displayed their superiority over the Vanderbijlpark based side, walking away with a strong win.
Kovsies move up the log with their five points, as VUT drop to the bottom of the barrel with no points under their belt in 2016.
