UP-Tuks scored a goal in each chukka to cruise to a 3-0 victory over NMMU in front of their home crowd in Pretoria on Saturday.
The home side took control of the game early on and had NMMU on the back foot from the first whistle.
Although they missed a few opportunities it was not long before Tuks had the lead, with Tarryn Moses on hand to tuck the ball away after an extended period of pressure from her side.
NMMU fought hard and managed to create a few chances of their own, but they did not see much of the ball and went into the first break 1-0 down.
Tuks continued to attack and they were rewarded when Janie Porteous deflected the ball past the goalkeeper after a short corner to make it 2-0.
They took that lead into the second break, which left them 20 minutes to score two more goals to earn a bonus point.
As NMMU began to tire in the final period Tuks had plenty of opportunities to extend their lead, but they battled to find the finishing touch.
The third goal eventually came when Kate Koenig was able to bury her shot after a goal-mouth scramble, leaving Tuks five minutes to search for the bonus-point goal.
However, it was not to be and they had to be content with a 3-0 victory in front of their home crowd.
