Another former Soccer Institute and Varsity Football player, Xola Mlambo, has recently signed up with a second PSL team in his career, for the 2016/17 season.
Xola Mlambo joins the roster of the 2015/16 Premier Soccer League runners-up, Wits University F.C. on a three-year contract.
Mlambo was part of the North-West University team that took part in the Varsity Sports tournament`s first Varsity Football season, in 2013.
This midfield maestro was part of PSL outfit Chippa United in the 2015/16 season – a team he joined midway through the season, recruited by former coach Dan Malesela.
When asked about the role Varsity Football played in his career, the 25-year-old Sports Science graduate had this to say:
“Despite the NWU team being knocked out in the semi-final of Varsity Football in 2014, I am very grateful for the opportunity presented by this tournament. It has given some of us the exposure to be noticed by PSL teams.”
Mlambo also believes that NWU-Mafikeng can go all the way in this year’s tournament.
“If the NWU team believes in themselves they will achieve whatever they set their minds to. It’s all up to them,” said Mlambo.
