Emotions are high, sweat has been lost, blood been shed, and it set to be a show to look forward to. On the historic milestone when the university celebrates its centenary, the year has had its luck rain on the university football team. The milestone will see the team part take in the Varsity Football competition for the first time in history, and hopefully not the last.
“There is a lot at stake, but I refuse to allow pressure and other factors control our chance to showcase our talent,” said head coach Charles Hanyani. “The main focus will be us. The university has a lot invested in this, emotions and support from the students and the Alice community at large. The script is set, and as a God-fearing man, I rest my case with God to lead us through the day.”
It seems as though points will not be easily won, no freebies will be available on the day, and it will come down to who wants it more and who is willing to step up to the plate and grab it.
“I don’t have much to say, but we have done what is required, and we will have to wait for the game to on Monday to see who worked hard,” said a humbled Siphamandla Zanekile.
The training is complete, the grass is cut, the fields are lined, the sound is on, and the stage is set. The countdown has begun.
The men from the University of Fort Hare will be taking on Central University of Technology at 19:00 at Davidson Stadium in Alice. It will be live on SuperSport.
