Here’s why you’ll find it difficult to leave a Varsity Football match empty-handed in 2016

Sweat dripping from their brows, cramps in the legs, bruised and battered, Varsity Football’s players have been training hard for South Africa’s premier university football competition. There is no doubt that they are ready for Monday night’s first round of matches, fully aware of what’s up for grabs. But what about their spectators? Are you ready for the season? Here’s what fans have to ‘play for’ at all the live matches in 2016:

Debonairs Pizza Football Flavour Freestyler
Show the crowd what you’ve got. This is an opportunity to showcase uniquely South African football flair. Forget Messi and Ronaldo. A number of fans will be selected from the crowd and given 45 seconds to show off their juggling, skills and tricks. The winner will receive a Debonairs Pizza-branded football and R100 Debonairs Pizza voucher.

FNB Word Scrabble
At Varsity Football, winning is as easy as ABC. At all Varsity Football matches, FNB t-shirts will be handed out to members of the crowd containing a letter printed on the front. Find the other fans wearing the letters and together line up to spell a hidden word and you could win a R250 FNB e-Wallet.

Iyachesa Moment
This is your opportunity to fill the boots of the likes of Andre Arendse or Robert Marawa. Record a 15-30 second video announcing your team’s upcoming TV game, share it on social media by tagging @varsitysportssa or #Iyachesa and stand a chance to do a live short TV link-out on SuperSport at one of your team’s home matches.

Kick For Cash
Lace up and come wearing your scoring boots, because at half time a select number of fans will be given the opportunity to attempt a shot at goal. Score and you could win R1500.

Varsity Jive
The Varsity Jive was hugely popular in previous years and in 2016 Varsity Football wants to reward fans with match day flair. During each match fans will be selected to show off their dance move. The winner will receive a replica of their team’s jersey and R250.

Each winner will be loaded to the Varsity Sports Facebook page and followers will be encouraged to vote for their favourite dancer of the season. The Varsity Jiver with the most votes will win an all-expenses paid trip to Varsity Football final.

Gees-for-Beers
What could be better than winning 10 cases of beer? Doing it while singing your lungs out with your mates. Build your squad (aim for more than 20 people) register your squad at your university’s soccer institute, arrive 45 mins before kickoff and start singing. The squad who sings the best and loudest will win 10 cases of ice cold beer at the end of the season.

Debonairs Pizza Slice of Brilliance
A player or moment from each match will be chosen for his or its brilliance and the result will be published on Varsity Sports’ Facebook page as the week’s Debonairs Pizza Slice of Brilliance. But instead of giving the player or moment a one- or two-star rating, the rating will be in the form of the number of pizza slices. A full pizza (eight slices) is a brilliant rating, while three or less is poor. If your rating turns out to be the winning number, you stand a chance to win a R50 Debonairs Pizza voucher.
