Since 2013 a total of 23 players have represented the Maties in Varsity Netball, with seven girls playing in either their second or third edition of the tournament.
You have met the eye-catching Jo Prins, Nelandre Mostert, Sune Claasen and Haike Brink this season (CLICK HERE) and another third season veteran Melandi Pretorius was the FNB Player of the match against NWU-Pukke. She stood out as the Maties won their replay against the Potchefstroom based team 46-39 (CLICK HERE).
Pretorius attended Stellenberg High School and is currently studying towards being an Occupational Therapist. She is 22 and has also represented the Cape Winelands Senior A Team to date.

Charmaine Baard
The Goal Shooter Baard matriculated from Brackenfell High School and is enrolled in the B.Ed program. At 20 this is her second Varsity Netball campaing and she is sure to be back in 2016.
Sasha-Lee Petersen
Her passion for sports extends beyond the court, where she has represented the Southern Stings, to her studies, as she is currently in her second year of BA (Sport Science). She attended De Kuilen High School and is also in her second season, playing Wing Defence.
Juline Rossouw
The rock in the Maties team, Goal Defender Rossouw serves as co-captain and also has played in all three editions. After switching to B.Ed and finding her passion, the former Paarl Gym pupil has blossomed even further. The highlight of her career has been playing for the Proteas in the Fast Five World Series, where she matched up against some of the best players in the world.
Cari Swart
This former Bloemhof pupil is studying towards a BSc in Chemistry and Polymer Science, and at 22 she bought vital experience to her first Varsity Netball campaign. Swart covers both Goal Attack and Goal Shooter in the team.
Somari Els
Another Sport Science student, Els will be able to play in a whole host of future Varsity Netball tournaments, as the 20-year old former Waterkloof pupil is in her first year of tournament participation. Els plays Goal Attack and Wing Attack.
Saskia Stander
A BSC-student, who is studying Text and Polymer Science, Stander is a local girl, having been schooled at DF Malan. The 19-year old Wing Defender/Centre is in her first season of Varsity Netball.
Stephanie Brandt
Brandt, who matriculated from Paarl Girls’ High, is currently studying BScAgric (Agricultural-Economics Analysis and Management). The Goal Keeper is also in her first year in the tournament, but represented the Southern Stings earlier in the year, which is clear evidence of the netballing prowess the 19-year old possesses.
