UP-Tuks were ruthless in their 62-18 Varsity Netball demolition of UCT in Stellenbosch on Sunday.
The Pretoria side took control from the outset and raced out to an early 5-1 lead as UCT found the going tough in the opening exchanges.
The Cape team rallied from there and managed to put some good attacking phases of their own together, but at the first break UP-Tuks were leading 13-7.
UP-Tuks came out all guns blazing in the second period and pulled away easily as UCT battled to keep up with the pace of the game.
They kept the pressure on and managed to score 10 unanswered points just before half-time to give them a commanding 31-11 lead at the break.
The powerplay was taken in the third quarter, and UP-Tuks took full advantage by scoring two quick goals which put them 39-12 up.
At the final break UP-Tuks had built up a formidable 48-13 advantage, and it did not take them long to reach the half-century.
The second powerplay was taken shortly after the break and it was more of the same as UP-Tuks continued to dominate.
To their credit UCT never stopped fighting and managed to get some late goals, but it was not enough to avoid a heavy defeat in the end.
