VUT will be looking to redeem themselves in Round Three when they host the current log-leaders TUT.
In what was the first televised game of the season on Thursday, VUT played in an intense game in which they lost 2-1 to NWU seeing them drop to the bottom of the log.
Team manager, Adolphus Tsotetsi said that they are determined to turn things around in front of their home fans.
“The boys had a tough time last week and were tired, but come Monday they will be more than ready to face TUT. We need to let the slaughterhouse live up to its name,” he said.
The Pretoria side are doing well in the tournament thus far, drawing their first game with defending champions UP-Tuks and winning 3-1 against WSU, collecting four points which should have their confidence levels sky high. That said, VUT have shown skill that could possibly see them to the semifinals.
The hosts are going into the next leg as the underdogs, however the coach says they have to soldier on to the end.
“We have to face the task ahead and take the bull by its horns. The team just got back from play-off’s and havent recovered well in terms of fatiguefatigue,” said ‘Gomma Gomma’ Masango.
The team is taking two days off to recooperate and will commence training on Sunday.
“TUT is a good team and we will need to be very cautious, especially at the back. We can’t find ourselves conceding to soft goals, but I am proud of my boys, they show character and are fighters,” Masango added.
Morale is sure to be re-ignited come date of play, with loyal fan base supporting the home side all the way.
The clash is scheduled for Monday , 3 August, 18:00 at Izak Steyl Stadium, Vanderbijlpark.
