TUT handed WSU their first Varsity Football defeat as they picked up a 3-1 victory in Tshwane on Monday night.
The victory means that TUT continue their proud record of never having lost a Varsity Football league match, while WSU now have one win and one loss from their two matches.
The visitors started brightly and manufactured the first real scoring opportunity, but Masonwabe Memani could not find the target after getting a good pass from Nqobane Machi.
Instead it would be TUT to open the scoring, with Selby Madibana firing home after the initial shot from Themba Ndlovu had deflected off a defender.
However, they did not have the lead for long as WSU hit back in the 10th minute with a goal from Benathi Ngaka who made the most of a fumble by TUT goalkeeper King Ndlovu.
The goals kept coming as TUT went back in front soon afterwards when Khomotso Ledwaba beat the goalkeeper from close range after a well-taken corner by Thabang Motau.
They took their 2-1 advantage into the half-time break after an entertaining opening 45 minutes.
The game tightened up in the second half, as the teams got the measure of one another and managed to limit the scoring chances.
Themba Ndlovu tested the WSU goalkeeper with a stinging free kick, but it was saved and turned away for a corner to the disappointment of the home crowd.
Any hopes WSU had of a comeback were dashed in the 89th minute when Sidney Seromo scored after getting a square ball from Thabang Motau.
