Wits say their key strategy in their upcoming Varsity Football clash with NMMU Madibaz is preparation. This is after they played to a goalless draw with UWC this past week.
Both Wits and NMMU Madibaz go into their next encounter with one point each on the Varsity Football log after both teams played to goalless draws in their first encounters of the competition.
Wits head coach Karabo Mogudi says the key ingredient for them ahead of this encounter is preparation.
“The Madibaz are a strong team. We saw them give the VUT a run for their money last week, so we need to prepare”, Mogudi said.
One of the things the Wits side hopes to particularly change is the makeup of the team. Mogudi said while it is important to give the less experienced players an opportunity to show their skills, this time the team will be made up of a larger number of more experienced players.
“Last week we were concerned with injuries with some of the more experienced players, so we had to change our team slightly to accommodate that. This week, if no new injuries happen, then we will be ready” said Mogudi.
Mogudi added that they noted as a team the physical intensity with which the Madibaz play and they will be getting ready as a team to match that. He explained that it is important to serve their home crowd with quality and entertaining football.
“They key for us going into that match is preparation, preparation, preparation”, Mogudi said.
Wits will host the Madibaz at the Bidvest Stadium on the 27th July. Kickoff is 6pm.
