There will be some top Varsity Cup stars on display at the Varsity Sevens event at Villager FC in Cape Town this weekend.
Hot on the heels of another pulsating season of Varsity Cup action, the Sevens tournament will feature some of the most exciting players in what should be a festival of tries.
Newly-crowned Varsity Cup champions Kovsies have brought out the big guns with captain and FNB Back that Rocks AJ Coertzen alongside electric flank and Forward that Rocks nominee Daniel Maartens and wing Vuyani Maqina.
They will be hoping to challenge defending champions Maties who boast a number of Sevens specialists as well as the likes of experienced outside back Craig Barry, Mike Muller and centre Louis Jordaan.
Another team with Varsity Cup winners to call on is UCT, with wings Richard Stewart and Paul Cohen and flyhalf Tom Bednall playing pretty close to home in Claremont.
UP-Tuks have called on speedster Jermaine Kleinsmith and playmaker Dewald Human, NMMU have their gas-man in Tythan Adams, while NWU-Pukke have the services of wing Dean Stokes and UJ have made use of Adrian ‘Juffrou’ Vermeulen.
There will also be some Varsity Shield talent on display, with UWC looking to flyhalf Quaid Langeveldt to show that they can be a force to be reckoned with.
