Varsity Beach Volleyball newcomers UFS-Kovsies are looking forward to competing in their first event and will be doing everything in their power to enjoy the experience and give a good showing of themselves.
Despite having no expectations of the event, Imke Stehn will remain positive regardless of the results while the close-knit team looks to take things one step at a time.
“We are all really looking forward to the Varsity Beach Volleyball tournament even though we have no idea what to expect. Seeing as though we have not played in this event, the experience of playing in the tournament will do us the world of good as we look forward.
“We are yet to set ourselves objectives but the one thing we will do is enjoy every moment and have fun while doing it,” she told varsitysportssa.com.
Stehn may have only started playing Beach Volleyball in 2013 but her experience in the indoor format will come to the fore. The second year Agriculture student went on to state that their team is a close-knit group, who feeds off the energy of each other.
“Hanna and I plays really well together and we understand each other – which is good for this version of the game. We have an excellent relationship and her passion for the game really rubs off on myself and Ushana.
“Ushana and I have very similar personalities which helps us out a lot when we play together. She really loves the sport and it shows when she steps onto the court. She is a real fighter and I am overjoyed that she is on my team,” she added.
The Varsity Volleyball competition will take place from April 22-23 at the UWC campus in Bellville, Cape Town.
