UP-Tuks got back to winning ways in Varsity Cricket with a comfortable 10 wicket win against UCT.
Having suffered defeat to UWC on Thursday, the favourites bounced back well as they put together a diciplined performance against the Ikeys.
The UCT openers got off to a solid start, but lost big-hitting Jack Newby in the sixth over when he was caught off the bowling of Vincent Moore.
Wicketkeeper Taariq Chiektey joined Richard Tissiman and the pair kept the scoring ticking and took the Cape side to 70/1 at the 10 over drinks break.
However, they would lose Tissiamn shortly afterwards when he was stumped off a wide from Aiden Markram for 28, and Markram was not done there as he bowled Brandon Tattum in his next over.
Riaz Sader did not last long either before nicking off to Jacques Snyman, but Chiecktey stuck it out and lasted until the penaultimate ball of the innings when he was bowled by Snyman for 49.
The final over from Snyman was the Power Play Plus over, so Chiecktey’s demise meant that UP-Tuks would start their innings on 5 runs.
The Pretoria side were not troubled by UCT up front, and regular boundaries from the bat of Murray Coetzee and Markram took them to 44/0 after five overs.
The opening pair continued the onslaught and Markram soon brought up his half-century, with the 100 coming up after 11 overs.
The only question in the final stages was whether Coetzee would reach his miletone as well, but it was not to be as they reached the total in the 14th over with him unbeaten on 45.
