The sprinter from NMMU is fully involved in the university and more specifically the activities of the sports club.
She began her athletics career at Alexander Road High School after she joined a few of her friends and has been running ever since.
Tasquane told varsitysportssa.com: “I am working full-time at NMMU as the Events Manager in the Sports Department.
“I work and study, I am in my third year of my marketing degree,” she mentioned.
Studying, working and being an athlete must put a lot of strain on her training schedule and she is going into the competition with very achievable goals.
“I hope to beat my personal best times; I have run a 12.30 for 100 metres which means I am close to my personal best of 12.21 seconds.”
These goals are realistic for a person that does not have as much time as other athletes to train.
Athletes like Tasquane are vital in an event like this working because it is important that people who are in the same position as her realise that they can compete with athletes from the bigger universities in the country.
