NWU will be going all out to make sure UJ suffer their first defeat in Varsity Football on Monday night.
The top-of-the-table clash promises to be a mouth-watering affair with both teams unbeaten at the top of the standings.
The top contenders are on 11 points with UJ better on goal difference and will both be looking for a win to end the round robin phase of the competition in first place.
NWU will hope their fearsome threesome – playmakers Orebotse Mongae, Sandile Mbatha and striker Tshenolo Machwisa – produce the same scintillating form that has seen them turning heads in the tournament this season.
UJ coach Bradley Carnell is unsure whether to rest or rotate his players, but welcomes back captain Grant Bruchhausen from suspension. He has also included Kaylan More, Thabi Ledwaba and Carl Clements to boost his attack.
Making returns for NWU are Matsobane Matsi and Kyle Amon, who were on national duty for the University Sports South Africa (USSA) tournament in Zambia this week.
NWU team manager, Enock Llali, says they will approach this game the same as the others.
“The players are highly motivated after Monday’s draw against University of Pretoria which was also a top of the table tussle,” he said.
The Manager is also impressed by the fact that they will be fielding an injury free squad.
“We want to go for the Jugular this time around as a way to reward our loyal fans,” Llali concluded.
