A big crowd at a football match normally set the tone for an electrifying atmosphere, which is something that is guaranteed in Mafikeng.
NWU has up to now not disappointed in their Varsity Football home games to sit level on log points with leaders UJ ahead of their table-topping clash on Monday and this can definitely be attributed to loyal supporters attending in numbers.
Mondays have never been the same again for the Mafikeng and university community as we see the stadium filled to the capacity every time the campus hosts a Varsity Football game.
It’s now a norm to see the campus coloured in blue supporter’s team T-shirts from the morning hours on Monday.
When asked about this huge attendance of the games, the NWU-Mafikeng Sports Manager Ryan Pivallazza said that the attractive style that the team plays is a big factor in bringing the people out in their numbers.
“Our stadium is filled with adoring fans every time when we play at home. This is a sign of a successful team playing eye-catching football. People are attracted to success.
“The campus games have also attracted more crowds compared to most of the Premier Soccer League matches. The supporters also serve as a driving force behind the team,” he enthused.
