UWC proved that they were a cut above the rest with a resounding 38-22 victory over UJ to claim the Varsity Sports Beach Volleyball title in Margate.
The Cape team did not lose a single match over the two legs, and after being denied the Plettenberg Bay title due to extreme weather last week there were no such issues in Margate on Saturday.
The dynamic duo of Bejancke Della and Prudence Layters simply had too much class and composure for all of the opponents that they met, and their dominance was underlined by their convincing performance in the final.
UJ fought hard to stay in touch and trailed 17-9 at half-time, but the pressure from UWC was too much for them and they had to settle for second place.
The NMMU Madibaz managed to take third place, although they were forced to work incredibly hard for it by the TUT Vikings who pushed them all the way in their play-off.
The Plate was taken by the Ikeys from UCT who did well to bounce back from a winless opening day to secure some silverware.
