Two late goals saw UP-Tuks claim a vital 2-0 victory over home side Kovsies in Bloemfontein on Sunday.
It was a hard-fought encounter between the two sides who were both coming off good wins on Saturday, with little quarter given either way.
There were no goals in the first two chukkas, but the Pretoria side made their move in the final period as a drag flick from Matthew Guise-Brown gave them the lead.
The victory was sealed by an impressive effort from Richard Pautz who produced a spectacular overhead shot to seal the win for the visitors.
The second match saw Rhodes and Wits end deadlocked at 1-1 after a tough match which saw both teams dominate in periods.
The first chukka ended goalless, but Rhodes took advantage soon after the break when Cody van Wyk finished well after a long corner from Jeremy Hart.
Rhodes could have gone 2-0 but a p-flick was put wide and Wits equalised soon afterwards when Jarryd Povall put a rebound in the back of the net.
Rhodes had a late opportunity to clinch the win after Van Wyk was taken out, but once again the p-flick was saved and it ended level.
