Two second-half goals saw UP-Tuks secure a hard-fought 2-0 victory over UCT at Wits on Saturday.
The Cape side made a strong start and had the UP-Tuks d3efence under pressure early on, but they could not make their opportunities count.
UP-Tuks responded with a period of sustained pressure themselves, but the teams went into half-time deadlocked at 0-0 after an evenly matched first half.
UCT made an impressive start to the second half as they took the game to their opponents, but UP-Tuks held out and they would eventually be the first to score when a drag flick from Matthew Guise-Brown flew into the net.
UCT made good use of their powerplay which gave them a two-man advantage, but UP-Tuks managed to keep them out somehow, and they would have the final say when Andrew Buckley scored a late goal to seal the win.
Matthew Guise-Brown got the Samsung Super Striker award for his opening goal, whilst his teammate Richard Pautz was named the FNB man of the match.
